The Washingtonia robusta is known for being a very fast growing palm tree that adapts very well to any kind of soil and recovers rapidly of any shock or transplant. Its leaves are an intense green and its petioles are red-brown in tone and very hardy. The Washingtonia is able to tolerate temperaturas down to -6ºC. The Washingtonia robusta is native to Northwestern Mexico. In cultivation it is one of the most widely planted palms in the world and, although not native to California, its tall skydusting palm silhouette is a famous icon for Southern California.
