Citrus Latifolia – Lime tree

The Citrus Latifolia or Persian Lime is a medium thornless perennial tree whose fruit is the lime or persian lemon, which is edible and very fragrant. It can grow up to 4,5-6m high with a very branched out and open crown. Its leaves are 3-11cm long with an elliptical shape, leathery and a glossy green colour, with winged petioles. The flower of the lime tree is the lime blossom (“azahar”) which is the same flower that grows on orange trees, albeit slightly purple tinged white colour, contrary to the usual white of the orange blossom.
